OVERVIEW AND QUALIFICATIONS
This course is designed to give the diver an opportunity to improve their skills, knowledge, and equipment configuration, thereby increasing their safety and efficiency. This course is also intended to introduce divers to the discipline of technical diver training.
Graduates will be considered competent to enter a NAUI technical diver course if all prerequisites are met.
This course gives a recreational diver the ability to increase their confidence and skills while remaining within no decompression limits, and by utilizing streamlined and efficient equipment configurations to improve their skills.
Graduates will have an increased skill set awareness and responsibility. Additional goals of the course are improving non-technical skills, techniques and building diver confidence.
A minimum age of 15 years is required to enter the water phase of this course.
Breakdown of what to expect:
- The course consists of seven classroom lectures.
- ± five pool sessions to demonstrate the mastery of the specific diving skills required to complete the Technical Diver Skills checklist.
- The NAUI Technical Diver Skills checklist must be completed prior to engaging in dives deeper than 18m (60 feet)
- A minimum of four qualification dives.
- It is recommended that students have their own equipment for this course.
- The student will be required to complete a formal written exam.
- The duration of the course and dates of the pool sessions and qualification weekend will be determined by the students during their first meeting and a course calendar will be established.

Excludes:
- Entrance and accommodation for Bass Lake.
- Cost of qualifying weekend at the coast, or Wondergat, or Komati Springs.

What’s next?
Once you confirm your interest and payment is made, a “Meet & Greet” meeting, will be arranged where you will meet your instructor, who will introduce you to introduction to technical diving. Together you will set up the course calendar and activate your electronic course material.
